Bible chapters from the KJV

Read Psalm 23 (KJV)

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Questions about random Bible chapters

How does the random chapter generator work?

Each chapter in your chosen range has an equal chance of being picked, with the chapter you are currently reading left out to avoid an immediate repeat. Choosing a range changes your next pick; it does not replace what you are reading.

Can I choose an Old Testament or New Testament chapter?

Yes. Use the Range menu below the button to select Old Testament or New Testament, then generate a random chapter. You can also choose Whole Bible, Psalms, or Gospels.

Can I get a random Psalm or a Gospel chapter?

Choose Psalms to draw from its 150 chapters. Choose Gospels to draw from Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

Which Bible translation does this tool use?

All chapter text on this page is from the King James Version (KJV). Translation switching is not currently available.

What is the difference between a chapter and a verse?

A chapter is a larger section of a Bible book, made up of numbered verses. This tool displays the full chapter so you can read each verse in context. Select a verse or its number to copy it, create a wallpaper, or save it for later.

How do I share the chapter I am reading?

Select Share this chapter to copy a link to the same book and chapter. If your browser cannot copy automatically, you can select and copy the link shown below the button. Select Share this chapter again to hide the link.

Can a random Bible chapter be an answer to prayer?

A random chapter can offer a starting point for reading and reflection. A randomly selected passage is not a guarantee of a personal answer or instruction. Read it in context, consider the surrounding chapters, and discuss difficult questions with a trusted pastor or Bible study leader.
